Environmental JusticeAll people have the right to live, work, learn, and advocate for safe and healthy environments. Poor communities of color carry an unequal burden of environmental health risks from industrial pollution. People’s CORE believes that the people most affected should be in the forefront of the environmental justice movement. People’s CORE works with communities to train and organize residents to promote environmental justice and advocate for policies that safeguard the public’s health. |

People’s CORE educates and trains youth and residents how to use digital technology to document, expose, and publicize the environmental impact of oil refineries in the South Bay. Media technology is used to gather video interviews and testimonials from residents about local environmental health risks and monitor local air quality. The digital stories are presented to residents, schools, and policymakers in order to ensure local facilities do not violate existing clean air standards and to advocate for environmental health and justice in the community. |
