Environmental Justice

All people have the right to live, work, learn, and advocate for safe and healthy environments. Low-income communities of color carry an unequal burden of environmental health risks from industrial pollution. People's CORE believes that the people most affected should be in the forefront of the environmental justice movement. People's CORE works with communities to train and organize residents to promote environmental justice and advocate for policies that safeguard the public's health.

CARE Health Project

Environmental Health Education and Advocacy

People's CORE conducts policy education and grassroots advocacy in order to reduce toxic emissions and strengthen local air pollution control measures in the South Bay communities of Carson and West Long Beach.

B.R.E.A.T.H.E. which stands for Building Relationships and Environmental Awareness through Health Education is a high school organization in the city of Carson and was established by People's CORE in 2007 to develop youth leadership by training students from Carson High School to be engaged in civic activities particularly around the issue of environmental pollution. The students meet every friday at room Z4 on the Carson High School.

The Environmental Justice Network of Southern California (EJNSC) is a multi-ethnic group of youth, community members (including parents, teachers, and students), community-based organizations, environmental health researchers/academics, and environmental organizations that was established by People's CORE in March 2005  to educate and address local, national, and international environmental health concerns by organizing and mobilizing community members to respond to environmental justice issues and to coordinate environmental health and community campaigns to advocate for environmental justice in the South Bay.
